Pot Belly Pig Training
In addition to dogs, Laura has been training pet pigs since 1989.  She has given seminars on the training and behavior of pigs and how to live with them. You can not use a choke chain or a pinch collar on a pig. Below you can see some pictures of one of the seminars and the steps to getting a piglet to wear a harness.

Pigs are very intelligent, clean animals.  They can be house trained just as easily as many dogs, sometimes easier.  Pigs can be taught to use litter boxes and dog doors.  They have great personalities and can live with both dogs & cats, as long as the dog isn’t aggressive towards them.  The training methods Laura uses for pigs are similar to those used with dogs.  Pigs can be taught to put on a harness and walk on a leash, sit, down and come, just as a dog would.  Pigs are small when young, just as any living being is, but they do not reach full size until they are 3-5 years old.  So if you are looking for a small pig don’t be fooled by small parents if they are not full grown themselves.
Pigs can make wonderful pets in the right home.  However, they live a long time and are not for everyone, so please think hard before making this long term commitment.  The rescues are full of pigs without homes because people thought they were cute but didn’t know what they were getting into.  If you’d like to give a pig a good home please contact a good rescue organization.
