Pawscast #11: “Crates” (32:37)  There are a number of styles of crates to choose from so which one do you buy?  Why do you need a crate?  We talk about it all right here.   10/6/09

Pawscast #12: “Guilt” (22:15)  How it affects our decisions when dealing with our pets and the relationships we have with them.  10/9/09

Pawscast #13: “Inadvertent Reinforcement” (25:36)   It’s the little things we do without thinking that reinforce bad behaviors.   Like opening a door for a barking dog, petting our dog when they are being pushy, or paying attention to them when they jump up.  How many ways are you encouraging bad behavior without realizing it?  10/13/09

Pawscast # 14: “Pre-Emptive Training” (30:52)  Another way to put this is “how to be proactive instead of reactive” when dealing with your dog.  Again, this goes back to setting your dog up to succeed, not fail.  10/16/09

Pawscast #15:  “Halloween” (21:02)  Halloween can be a busy and exciting or even scary night for dogs. How can we use this night of excitement to our advantage and for training?  We have all (or most) of the answers.   10/20/09

Pawscast #16:  “Attention Seeking Behavior” (25:22)  Does your dog paw at you to get you to play with him?  Does he whine when it’s dinner time?  Does he bark at you when he wants to be pet?  All these things are attention seeking behavior, and they can be bothersome and obnoxious.  Here we discuss how to identify, prevent and stop these unwanted behaviors.   10/24/09

Pawscast #17:   “Boredom and Enrichment” (27:30)  Otherwise known as how to “keep your dog out of trouble”.  Listen to all of the great ideas we come up with you help keep your pooch mentally stimulated so he doesn’t make up games you don’t like.  10/28/09

Pawscast #18:   “When to Seek the Help of a Trainer” (29:06)  How do you know when you can train your dog yourself or if you need to hire a trainer?  And even if you do know you need a trainer, how do you go about finding one?   10/30/09

Pawscast #19:  “Dogs for Protection” (24:15)  We share our thoughts on dogs as protectors, and the expectations that people sometimes attach to that concept…including the misguided notion sometimes perpetuated by TV and movies about the “push button” guard dog.  11/3/09

Pawscast #20:  “Nuisance Barking” (28:38)  Nuisance barking can be the cause of a lot of aggravation and heartache for dog owners.  In most city areas there are noised ordinances, and when a dog barks excessively their owner can face fines and other penalties if it’s reported by their neighbors.  But a lot of nuisance barking is the result of a bored, under stimulated dog that’s been left alone for a long period of time, or a dog who’s barking goes unchecked when the owner is home.  We explore this noisy topic and possible solutions to the problem.  note:  “Boredom and Enrichment” also contains helpful information.  11/6/09
